Lockout/Tagout - Control of Hazardous Energy Regulations
OSHA requires that energy sources for equipment must be turned off or disconnected, and that the switch or plug be locked or labeled with a warning tag any time the equipment is being serviced or maintained. Failure to lock out equipment causes an estimated 120 fatalities a year, and approximately 32,000 injuries.
