What can employers do to help prevent deaths and contact with disease in the workplace? Because heart disease and cardiac
arrest can affect a wide variety of workers, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has encouraged employers
to make Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) available. AEDs are relatively inexpensive and easy to use. An AED also
helps the user with prompts and instructions for use. Bloodborn Pathogen (BBP) safety really revolves around common sense,
but employees who may come into contact with BBPs should wear the appropriate PPE to protect them from exposure. The most
often used PPE would include gloves, face shields, goggles, and CPR shields. The equipment you have available in your
workplace may one day help save one of your employees–or even you.
