Slippery floors are an everyday occurrence in many workplaces, they are commonly overlooked as a safety hazard. Manufacturing
facilities are at particular risk for slip-and-fall accidents, as many processes require liquids for cooling, cleaning,
lubricating, etching and protecting. These liquids typically leak, drip and spray onto floors and walkways where workers
can easily slip and fall. Winter's snow and ice can also wreak havoc on sidewalks and parking lots. Be sure take time to
perform outdoor maintenance that can help prevent slip, trip and fall accidents and improve overall facility appearances.
According to the National Safety Council, slips, trips and falls in the U.S. are the cause of more than 12,000 deaths and
over 565,000 injuries annually. Taking the time to improve floor conditions now, and training workers to identify and rectify
hazards in their work areas will go a long way toward a reduction in slip and fall injuries and will save the company money.
