Question: Do you offer an inspection checklist that I can use with my spill kit?
Answer: Yes!
Please see below for two types of inspection checklists for use with any spill kit from any supplier. Everyone needs to check spill response supplies regularly, and it’s no secret that pros in environmental, health and safety (EHS) LOVE checklists! Plus, they generally agree that you should customize checklists to your specific needs, and these lists are good starting points.
Here is when to use each sheet:
Sealed Spill Kits
When a kit is sealed with a tamperproof label, there is no need to check the contents at weekly or monthly intervals because if the seal’s not broken, everything is still in there. This document is designed to be used like fire extinguisher or eyewash station inspection sheets. It shows that kits have received an exterior check monthly for an entire year. It is still a good idea to break the seal once or twice a year to see if anything has degraded, update the checklist accordingly, then file it as a record and compliance document for EHS audits.

Unsealed Spill Kits
This version is for those who need to dive into their kits and check every piece to make sure that everything is still good to go. You can print a separate list for each kit onsite. You can even record the type and quantity of each item in the kit so it is easier for everyone to determine if all of the intended contents are present.
You don’t want to come up short during a spill emergency, so spill kit inspections are important. Hopefully, these documents will make the task easier.
