Did you know that same-level slips, trips and falls are the second leading cause of lost worktime injuries in the U.S? Chances are that if you didn’t know that, your employees don’t either. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) issued a final rule on Walking-Working Surfaces to better protect general industry workers. The rule updates and clarifies standards so they’re easier to implement and adds training and inspection requirements.
Employers are required to identify hazards, like floor safety hazards, within their facility and put plans in place to eliminate risks.
Download the toolbox talk below to alert your workers to common floor safety issues in your facility, how to avoid them and what they should do when they see them.
Make It Personal: Go to an area in your facility that is a common place where slips, trips and falls occur. Demonstrate the reason(s) incidents occur in that area and what workers should do to avoid a slip, trip or fall.
