Choose PIG Oil-Only Absorbent Mat for Skimming or Cleanups Where Water is Present
When you just need to absorb oil, want to repel water and have no challenging conditions to deal with, PIG Oil-Only Absorbent Mat gets the job done — affordably and efficiently. It comes in white, which makes absorbed oil easier to see and draws attention to machine leaks; brown, which hides grime, so the mat can stay on the job longer; and the exclusive Ham-O, which actually makes grime invisible. And, well, it just looks cool.
Choose PIG Stat-Mat for Absorbing Flammables
Suppose things are a little more complicated. You have fuel spills or solvent to clean up in an area where an electrostatic discharge would be a very bad thing. For flammable oil-based liquids, we recommend PIG Stat-Mat. While our standard oil-only mats are intended to absorb nonflammable oil-based liquids, PIG Stat-Mat is treated with a static-dissipative solution to reduce static charge. This lessens the chance of fire when absorbing flammable oil-based liquids like jet fuel, diesel and gasoline. We even package PIG Stat-Mat in an antistatic bag to reduce the static charge even more.
Choose PIG Oil-Only UV-Resistant Mat for Extended Outdoor Use
Let’s say you have an outdoor installation where you need oil-absorbent mats that are long-lasting, weather-durable and won’t disintegrate into dust from sun exposure. Standard oil-only mats work well outdoors but could degrade after weeks of direct sunlight. PIG Oil-Only UV-Resistant Mat is what you want. These absorbent mats are designed to withstand 12 months of direct sunlight. That’s 12 hours per day, every day of the year for 12 months, without absorbing a single drop of water or degrading a bit. PIG Oil-Only UV-Resistant Mats are perfect for hard-to-reach, outdoor locations where mat change-outs are harder to do.

03/23/2017 at 2:52 pmHi Robby,
Most absorbents don’t have a flashpoint. However, absorbents do take on the characteristics of the liquids that they have absorbed, so when they are used to absorb a liquid with a low flashpoint, the spent absorbents should be handled with the same precautions.
Polypropylene mats will not support combustion. They will start to get brittle at temperatures around 215°F and will melt when exposed to temperatures above 250°F.
The fillers of some socks may support combustion. If the absorbent has a safety data sheet (SDS), check section 9 for information regarding physical and chemical properties of the absorbent.
Hope this information helps!
Thanks,
Karen
