I work in an automotive manufacturing machine plant. We have two 25,000 gal cooling/filtration systems that support 110 CNC machines. All of this runs on a zero gravity pump system. If a zero pump goes down more often than not there will be several thousand gallons of coolant rushing onto the ground and heading toward the nearest exit.
Our company has used many PIG products in the past ,and I finally broke down and purchased four of these dikes to keep in our emergency spill response kit. The biggest problem we have had with the dikes is that we do not have enough of them. The are absolutely worth their weight in gold!
When I first received these dikes about six months ago the instructions state for best results to use these dikes on clean, dry, solid ground. I laughed and thought to myself that these will never work. I have literally dropped these in the middle of a pool of oil and had the pool separate into two puddles. If you apply pressure to the dike it will suction onto almost any surface. These dikes have been used in many different chemicals and once used typically are never cleaned. They are stored in a cardboard box all tangle up until the next use.
I do not fore see these falling apart any time soon, and if they ever do they will be replaced. If this review would allow for review photos I have some great action shots of these dikes at work!
