Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What do I need to do?

A: Answer six simple questions, less than 5 minutes total per area. We have created a paper worksheet that walks you through the data we need for each area. It boils down to three distances, the volume of your largest container, and checkboxes for the types of liquids in the area (i.e. corrosives, flammables, etc.). When you're done, you can scan the worksheets or take photos and then email, text or call us — whatever works best for you.

Q: Do you just estimate the results based on experience?

A: It isn't judgment — it's physics. We all know the regs don't help when it comes to the finer points of spill preparedness. For our algorithm, it's all about the physics of the spill and the setting. The algorithm first calculates how far a spill of your largest container will spread on both a 0 and 5 degree slope. For example, on a spectrum of risk, if your spill would reach 90 feet, and you have a drain 5 feet away, that's a higher risk. If your drain is 300 feet away, that's a lower risk. If you have sister facilities, you'll also know that the results will be completely repeatable since they're using the same standards. That's part of why it's patents pending.

Q: What is the output for my facility?

A: Your report lays out the nine Risk Factors in each area, as well as summaries for your entire facility, and steps to take in each area. We break down the risks in each area on one page in a simple, visual format.

Q: What can I do with the findings?

A: They guide you through your exact steps to reduce risks, by area. We create Improvement Paths to show your current risks, and exactly how they will improve after you take recommended steps. For example, move that spill kit from 90 feet to 15 feet from the liquid area, and your Spill Kit Distance will improve to “Excellent.”

Q: What's the cost?

A: There's absolutely no cost to you. Zero. Zilch. Zippo.

Q: What's the catch — how do you guys make money on this?

A: We see it as a win-win. When you receive your Spill Risk Report, we believe you'll see us as the experts on understanding spill risks and preparedness. And we know just as much on the product side about making the world's best stuff for leaks, drips and spills. We want the chance to earn your business, and we hope that you think of New Pig first.
